Jeff Jackson, the founder of Jackson Sogo, is a licensed Japanese immigration lawyer (gyouseishoshi) and served as the managing partner of Deloitte Japan’s Immigration practice from 2022 through 2025.
Jeff has lived in Japan for more than 25 years and has practiced law in Japan since 2007.
Internationally-recognized expert on Japanese immigration law and practice
Jeff is a recognized specialist in Japanese immigration law and practice and has published authoritative practice guides on Japanese corporate immigration for:
- International Comparative Legal Guides (ICLG)
- Chambers and Partners (Chambers Global Practice Guides)


Jeff has also served as an expert panelist on Japanese immigration law for various international organizations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ).

Jeff belongs to the Aichi-ken Gyouseishoshi Bar Association and the Japan Federation of Gyoseishoshi Lawyers and is licensed to practice before the Immigration Services Agency of Japan (the Japanese Immigration Burean). Jeff is also licensed and has practiced as a U.S. lawyer (California) but does not practice U.S. law in Japan.
